What is Maids about?

Maid is an American drama starring Margaret Qualley and Nick Robinson. The story is about a working mother (Alex-Margaret Qualley), who leaves her abusive boyfriend to protect her child. Moreover, she has to deal with her dysfunctional family as well. But more importantly, the show talks about the beautiful relationship between a mother and daughter.

Jane The Virgin is an American romantic comedy-drama on Netflix. The series addresses similar issues as that in maid but with a simpler tone.  It stars Gina Rodriguez as Jane Gloriana Villanueva. The 23-year-old Latina becomes pregnant after artificial insemination from her gynaecologist. The story revolves around jane when she has to overcome her family’s doubts and answer various questions.

9. SMILF

SMILF is an American sitcom on Netflix. It is based on the short film of the same title. It follows the ordeals of a single mother Bridgette, who wants the best life for her son. Although her personal and work life are not at all shining on her. The two series are quite similar on a basic level. The main difference between the two would be the harshness of the series. Maids shows the circumstances in a harsh way while SMILF has a much simpler tone.

Inspired by the Life of Madam C. J. Walker, Self Made is an American drama series on Netflix. It is based on the biography On Her Own Ground. She started out as a lowly washerwoman, but the show goes on to document her rise to the top as the first self-made female millionaire in America. And all of that with just beautiful hair!
