The lockdown has been a completely different experience for everyone. While for some it is a big breakthrough from their on-going always hustling life and a way to relax & escape but for some, it isn’t that of a good and pleasant experience so they struggle to find ways in order to keep themselves busy and pass time. So, below are the 10 things to engage yourself in at home for those who are feeling bored and monotonous while also for those who are enjoying this fun-forced break and want to learn something new!
1. ACQUIRE SOMETHING NEW/ REFINE SOMETHING OLD
Acquiring a new skill is like adding something new to your already refined platter. While you are free and looking to learn something new or even polishing up what you already know doing courses is a good way out. Check out sites like Udemy, Skillshare, Coursera. There are a lot of channels on YouTube as well that are offering free classes. I also feel this is the time when you can develop a skill-set that can help you in the future.
While cooking is not everyone’s cup of tea but a little bit of trying won’t harm anyone. For all the cook lovers this is the time to practice and get out the chefs in them by making the dishes they always wanted to but could never because of no time. Again, YouTube is the biggest pool of resources for free, enjoyable, easy recipes.
3. FIXING YOUR WARDROBE
This is one thing we all procrastinate because it is so time consuming and not everyone is that patient to devote their hours in cleaning or fixing things. So try this out! Not only will it help you give life to a mess that you have created but also make you feel cheerful and contented.
4.CONNECTING WITH LONG-LOST FRIENDS
Although quarantine has made it difficult for us to physically meet our friends, go out or enjoy the gossip sessions but we can also use this time to connect with them via facetime, zoom call etc. Video calling your friends and discussing your joys/sorrows is more refreshing and revitalizing than you can imagine!
Who doesn’t like watching movies and entertaining themselves with something fun, exciting, action or rom-com that takes you to a world of fantasy for some time ?
We all do, isn’t it! Plan on a Saturday or Sunday movie night with your family with some popcorns to bring on that theatre-like feel and vibe.
6. READING BOOKS
How many of us plan to start/read or finish a book but that day never comes and the book stays in the cupboard for months to pass by? So, here is the time to unleash the bookworm in you and to start the journey of reading a book.
Set achievable targets of reading one page a day or even half paragraph whatever suits you but be consistent so that it turns into a habit. It is no doubt one of the best sources to enhance your knowledge.
Introspection, A way to examine one’s thoughts or feelings is one practice we hardly give any time to. We are always in the haste to be the best and outshine the rest that we just don’t find time for ourselves! Use this time to introspect which will help you understand and give insight into what you like & dislike, your core values & strengths and also your weakness that you can work on. Come out strong, firm, and more aware of yourself from this .
8. RELIVING THE OLD DAYS
As children we have cherished playing Ludo, Scrabble, Snakes and Ladders but with the coming of the digital age and everything available on phone we lost track of these board games. Take out this time to unleash the hidden child in you and relive those old memories.
9. MAINTAINING A JOURNAL
Living in these unprecedented times we might want to revisit this time one day and ponder over how these days looked like. Create a day to day journal and let out your emotions with everything happening in and around. Not only would it help you keep a record of what is happening but also can be a really good means to let out your emotions in this heavy and uncertain time.
10. DO A HOME WORKOUT
You struggling to work out at home because you can’t feel the vibe or the environment is not motivating at all is relatable. But give yourself a push and get your body moving. There are a ton of exercises available on YouTube and now so many gym instructors are giving online classes so there is no means to skip or feel demotivated.
Try making the best and most use of this quarantine period and I hope these suggestions work well you!
