Those who believe that RAMPANT FRANCHISERY is murdering the art of film should keep their eyes peeled for Netflix’s Army of Thieves, which marks the official extension of Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead. It’s amazing how quickly Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead” has grown into a franchise. Is this the new way of doing things? It’s not impossible for a sequel to be greenlit before the first film is released. In some cases, they’re even made at the same time if they’re telling the same story, as with Peter Jackson’s films—but Snyder’s return to the world of the undead came with a prequel and a TV series already in the works.

The film centers on safecracker Ludwig Dieter before he became the Ludwig Dieter, and is set six years before the earlier film’s running-jumping-biting antics in Las Vegas. While an imminent zombie apocalypse consumes the United States, a quiet bank teller dreams of adventure while making videos on YouTube about impregnable safes is drawn into a robbery by the gorgeous Gwen, a fugitive jewel thief searching for a legendary score. They’re a charming couple, and one wonders whether their chemistry would have flourished more if this story didn’t have the baggage of the Army of the Dead connection.

The Army of Thieves isn’t exactly welcome a spinoff centered on Dieter, the safecracker character played by Matthias Schweighofer, who not only reprises his role but also directs the new film. However, keep in mind that Army of Thieves is a heist comedy, not a zombie film, so anyone expecting blood and gore may be disappointed. Furthermore, the key question is whether or not the film has been leaked via a pirated website.

Review Of Army of Thieves

Army of Thieves is a heist film directed by Matthias Schweighöfer in 2021, based on a scenario he wrote with Zack Snyder and based on a script by Shay Hatten. It is the second installment in the Army of the Dead franchise and serves as a prequel to the Army of the Dead. Filming began in October 2020 in Germany and the Czech Republic and ended in December 2020. Army of Thieves premiered on Netflix on October 29, 2021. Critics gave it a mixed to a positive response.

Best New Movies in November: Biggest movies to stream on Netflix, HBO

“Army of Thieves,” a prologue to a zombie action movie with few zombies and little action, is clearly aimed at an international audience. The first hour of “Thieves” is interminable—and it’s an hour before there’s anything like real action—and there’s no justification for this film to be over 130 minutes long, other than Snyder’s penchant for length. It’s a shame, because “Army of Thieves” really comes alive once the plotting is done and the heists begin.

That detour will become more of a footnote than a genuine expansion due to the setup and repetition. While Schweighöfer is more endearing than expected, his brand of wide-eyed romantic criminal works best in limited doses, and this film is saturated with Sebastian to the point where the rest of the cast is forgotten. Emmanuel is uninteresting, never generating the right chemistry with Schweighöfer, and she comes out on top. Heist movies, like the “Ocean’s” films or even “Now You See Me,” require a big staff. In that regard, this one falls short. Let’s hope the following products in this fully-formed franchise take a cue from this gang of thieves and steal some concepts.

You’ve probably heard about the movie my little pony for a long time. On the other hand, you have seen the trailer, read the reviews, understood the plot, and are now prepared to watch the film on Amazon Prime or in a theater. While not without charm, Army of Thieves’ major flaws includes a muddled blend of horror and heist genre themes, as well as an approach that leaves it unclear who the film is aiming at – aside from the most fervent of Zack Snyder fans.

While the concept of creating a before-during-after scenario for a zombie apocalypse isn’t new, Snyder’s Army of the Dead may not be the best vehicle for it due to a lack of mythology depth. It sufficed as a bit of disposable entertainment, but keeping aloft a slew of prequels and sequels may be beyond this army’s capabilities. As a result, please let me know in the comments section how much you enjoyed the review.
