Nathan meets with Ilene and persuades her to let Kong lead them through the Hollow Earth through an Antarctic outpost. Kong and his team discover an ecosystem identical to Skull Island within Hollow Earth. Despite Ilene’s protests, the Apex team sends its signature back to their Hong Kong base as they recognize the power source.

Godzilla is drawn to Hong Kong by the activation of Mechagodzilla, and when he detects Kong, he uses his atomic breath to dig a shaft to the throne room. After being defeated by Godzilla, Kong loses consciousness. They lose control of Mechagodzilla, who kills Walter and Ren before attacking Hong Kong. Nathan brings Kong back to life by killing the HEAV, and Jia persuades him to assist Godzilla.
