This year’s Oscars were as surprising as the last two years of this pandemic. Although we surely needed a bit of distraction. We probably weren’t expecting a physical confrontation between two superstars. Apple’s movie ‘CODA’ became the first movie from a streaming service to receive the best picture recognition.
Chris Rock and Will Smith’s fight
More on the physical confrontation Oscar-winning actor Will Smith marched up to mate Chris Rock just as he was about to present the best documentary award. How did that happen you’d think! Well actor Chris Rock joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair which led to the later chaos. ABC cut out the mics just before the two started shouting at each other, but uncensored feeds picked up most of it. Moments later the internet was blasting with memes of the two.
Moments later Will Smith was called upon to accept the award for best actor for the movie ‘King Richard’. He accepted the award and in the most sarcastic way commented to the fellow audience “Love will make you do crazy things.” The confrontation was certainly a shocking event but subdued with further progress in the award show.
Besides the chaos, the Oscars were a major win. Here are some of the highlights from the show…
