The new Amazon Prime movie, Thirteen Lives gives you a real-life experience of what happened in the caves. What’s more interesting is that this is actually based on a true story. And if you have watched the Netflix series Keep Breathing then this one is for you.

What is Thirteen Lives about?

Thirteen Lives as said earlier is a survival drama. But unlike most others, this one is actually based on real events. This dates back to the news of the Tham Luang cave rescue in Thailand. In the year 2018, a group of students along with their team’s coach set out to explore the caves. Although the students are unable to return home to a birthday party which rose suspicions. The parents of the said children then searched for the kids and found their bikes near the cave, which was flooded by the time. If the kids will get out safe or get stranded? You must watch the film to find out!

The movie follows the exact same story and gives the viewers a detailed explanation and visuals of that night. The strategies, techniques, government’s help and the people’s contribution in removing the lot was very much appreciated. The cast includes Viggo Mortensen as Richard Stanton and Colin Farrell as John Volanthen, the British cavers who led the rescue mission. Sukollawat Kanarot as Saman Kunan a Navy Seal who drowns during the rescue mission. The movie is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video from the 5th of August.

IMDB RATING: 7.9/10

What will we see in the series?

The direction of Ron Howard is an absolute must-watch in this film. The interpretation of what must have happened that night inside and outside the cave is very accurate and quite on point. The shooting of underwater scenes is unique and quite good. Even the cast has done a great job in expressing the grief, the tension, the dilemmas in various situations and more importantly the risks.

The quickness of the authorities and also the willful participation of the locals were a great help in the movie. This gives the film a complete feeling and a feeling of warmth and little good that is there in society. Our engrossment in the movie from the minute the kids go into the cave is maximised by the flooding. Moreover, the film also depicts how a natural and minimal thing like a monsoon can lead to so much destruction.

The sound effects and the sceneries in the movie are spot on! At times calm but hard splashes of water inside the cave send a shrill to your ears. The movie overall keeps you engaged at all times and is mostly underwater shots except for the scenes of strategic planning. This movie is absolutely a must-watch and definitely worth the time.
