A Cyberattack is an assault or offensive type of action launched by cybercriminals using one or more computer networks. They target or maliciously disable computer information systems, infrastructures, computer networks, or personal computer devices, using various methods to steal, alter or destroy data or information systems. It might be hacked by individuals or they can form groups, organizations, sovereign states, and it may originate from an anonymous source. Cyberattacks can range from installing spyware on a personal computer to attempting to destroy the infrastructure of entire nations. It has become increasingly sophisticated and dangerous. Cybercriminals use a variety of methods to launch a cyberattack, including malware, phishing, ransomware, denial of service, password attack, drive-by-attack, birthday attack, etc.

Without unknowingly we might fall into their trap by clicking accidental links and become their victim.

Check the information before installing any application:

Before installing any new application on your devices, check the applications . Many applications require to access your photos, phone camera, or recording information. Avoid unnecessary apps if the app reviews are bad. Ensure that permissions given match the purpose of the downloaded application.

Check the strength and create a strong password:

When choosing a password, create strong mixed with uppercase, alphabet, numbers, and some symbols. The strength of a password is long and strictly avoid using the name, phone number, chronologically-ordered numbers, etc. These are the passwords that are an easy way to crack by hackers. So make it longer or used at least 12 characters long and create that hard to guess.

Don’t open unnecessarily URLs:

When we open any site for access information, we come across many links and unknown emails. Sometimes we receive or invitation to spin the wheel to win iPhone, iPad, etc. We also see the people’s messages to win iPhone in the comment section. We spin it and it popped on your screen – you won. But then they tell you to open the link and feed their personal information for their iPhone delivery. Does your iPhone deliver in your home? No, right. So don’t click such URLs, not open email from unknown email addresses, trash attachments in unexpected emails, etc.

Don’t use free WiFi networks:

Who doesn’t like free WiFi? But it’s safe to use it or theft. Before access to use public WiFi network in shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, or any public places, try to contact the management or staff to know the official password of WiFi. Cyber attackers create a forge password similar to the official password with some slight changes and access your email address or passwords. Avoid using any money transaction with free WiFi.

Don’t leave your mobile devices while charging in public places:

It takes less than 5 minutes to transfer all your data to another device without your knowledge. There is one Hindi saying that we often used in an accident -“Savdhani Hati Durghatna Ghati. ” In English, it means if you aren’t cautious then you have to face the repercussions. So it’s better to keep an eye on the mobile whenever charge mobile in public. You can carry a power bank as well.

Secure your device:

In any conditions, your mobile is lost or stolen or being insecure. Your personal information, photos or messages, identity are easily accessed by hackers. There are some ways to secure your devices includes:

Purchasing or installing Anti-virus software.

Set a password, face recognition, or fingerprint to unlock devices.

Set some application passwords in photos, WhatsApp, Email, etc. Also, set password in the device before applications are installed.

Disable Bluetooth when not in use or any automatic connection to networks.

Enable remote locking and/or wiping functions, if your device supports them.
