Since 2015, Google has hosted “Google for India Event” to share its research and development plan for the country. The fifth edition of this annual event takes place in New Delhi on September 21, 2019. In the event, the tech giant has made nine big announcements related to new products and initiatives for the Indian users.

#Google Set-up New Artificial Intelligence Lab in India
Google various products such as Google Assistant, Lens, Search and Bolo works on the latest Artificial Intelligence and machine learning technology. Therefore, to tackle various problems in India, Google announces to open a new AI research lab in Bengaluru, India.
The lab would be led by ACM fellow and computer scientist Dr. Manish Gupta and Director of AI for Social Good Prof. Milind Tambe will join him.
First, the research lab would focus on the advancement of computer science and AI research by creating a strong partnering team with the research community across the country. Second, applying this search for solving problems related to healthcare, agriculture, and education sector.
#Google Provide Free Public Wi-Fi
There are several internet users in India. Seeing the demand of Internet, Google announced that it provides free public Wi-Fi to people who live in areas without internet connectivity.
Last year, Google already set up 400th station in Dibrugarh, Assam and now Google made a partnership with BSNL to provide internet services in the villages of Bihar, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
#Google added interpreter mode in Google Assistant
Google Assistant is one of the finest AI applications of Google that resolves various problems of people and now this popular Google application is coming with a new feature that is “Interpreter mode”.
This new feature works as a translator between two people who don’t speak the same language. To start this mode, all users of android phones need to say- “OK Google, help me speak in Hindi”.
#Google introduces new language in Bolo App
In 2018, Google added Hindi and English language in Bolo App and now this year Google extend the app language support to five that is Bengali, Urdu, Tamil, Marathi, and Telugu.
#Google bring Vodafone-Idea Phone Line
Google has made a new partnership with Vodafone-Idea to offer internet assistance to people who live in poor internet connectivity areas. Now, people who are using the 2G Vodafone network can call on a toll-free number (000-800-9191-000) to ask queries to Google.
#Google adds seven languages in discovering section
Google announced that seven new languages will now be supported by the discover section of its Google App. That is – Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam. In the upcoming month, Google also supports three languages such as Oriya, Urdu, and Punjabi.
#Google introduced a new feature in Lens
Google announced that some features will be added in Google Lens that makes it smarter and better. These features are
First, lens user can get information related to a road sign, poster or a menu by clicking a photo, tap on translate button and choosing the preferred language.
Second, the user can directly get information related to any word, by tapping on it.
Third, Lens users can use the application in more languages such as Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi.
#Google introduce language decoupling feature in Google Assistant
Google Assistant supports nine Indian languages. Now, Android and Android Go users were not required to manually select their preferred language. It can simply selected by saying- “Hey Google, talk to me in Telugu”.
#Google introduced new functionality in Google Pay
Google in Google India Event announced that some new features and functionality are added in Google Pay App.
Spot Codes: This feature is introduced to enhance branded commercial experience within Google Pay. Now the seller can showcase their products list and the buyer can easily pick their favorite item and pay for it, without leaving the Google Pay App.
This spot Codes right now available on certain apps like Go ibibo, UrbanClap, Make My Trip, Red Bus and Oven Story. Soon it will cover all the apps.
Tokenized Cards: It is one of the important and new technologies introduced by Google in Google Pay App. As its name suggests Google Tokenized Cards are just like digital cards that allow users to transact without revealing their credit and debit card details.
In the starting, this service will be available for Visa Cards issued by Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, and Kotak Bank. Later on, Google plans to include Rupay card and Mastercard in it.
Google Pay for Business: It is a new app introduced by Google that allows small and medium businesses to accept online payment directly in their accounts. Its registration and verification process is simple, hassle-free, less time consuming and doesn’t require any meeting with the agent.
Job Sport: Google introduces a job spot feature that allows the user to find out entry-level jobs through Google Pay. Through machine learning, it will create a CV and provide job recommendations based on their skills. Apart from this it also helps the user to prepare for the interview and learn new skills by suggesting videos content related to that.
