Amazon Prime Video officially announced a new series “The Peripheral”, based on William Gibson’s 2014 science-fiction mystery thriller novel from Westworld developers and husband-wife combo Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who work as the executive producers of the show by their Kilter Films Company. The Peripheral is directed by Vincenzo Natali along with Smith, who works as the showrunner and executive producer. The series is developed by the famous writer and author Scott B. Smith, who is best known for his 1998 neo-crime thriller drama “A Simple Pan”, based on a 1993 novel of the same name, written by him.
Nolan and Joy in their statement said that “Thirty-five years ago, William Gibson invented the future,” mentioning William Gibson’s novel “Neuromancer” premiered in 1984. “With his new series The Peripheral he once again brings us another look, and his vision is as clear, intoxicating, and terrifying as ever. All of us at Kilter are incredibly proud to be supporting Vincenzo and Scott’s brilliant vision for bringing Gibson’s work to the screen.”
This hour-long drama has been under work in Amazon Prime Video since 2018. In association with Kilter Films, Warner Bros. Television and the Amazon Studios have produced this new series. Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy along with Steven Hoban and Athena Wickham will be executive producers of the show. Vincenzo Natali, the writer, and director of the science-fiction movies such as cypher, cube, nothing and splice, will be direct as well as executive producing the new series.
