Waymo self driving technology is startup under Alphabets and is setting up a shop in Detriot factory on American Axle and manufacturing campus. On Tuesday, The CEO John Krafcik , Waymo said it will partner with American Axle and manufacturing to repurpose the existing facility in Motor City with the goal of being operational by mid-2019.
WHERE IS IT PRODUCE
In January, the company makes an announcement that it had chosen to produce its new L4 autonomous vehicle in Southeast Michigan which is the first of the kind in the world. With the invention of this, according to The Detroit Free Press, the company will provide a opportunity of about 100-400 jobs. Michigan Economic Development Corporation will also give Waymo incentives. According to Krafcik, he wrote, “We will partner with American Axle and manufacturing to repurpose an existing facility, bringing a workforce back to an area where jobs in the automotive industry were recently lost”. He further stated that the location will give Waymo the advantage of taking Michigan’s strong talent pool in engineering, operations and fleet coordination.

Waymo car that will also be called Level4 automotive vehicles is equipped with hardware and software that allow the cars to drive themselves without human operating them. They were guided by mapped-out routes in strictly defined area. Waymo, in collaboration with Uber, General Motors and Tesla are reported to be currently in a race to be the first to make their first selves drive vehicle nationwide. Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated this week that the company plans to launch a robo-taxi service in 2020. Chrysler announced in February that it will build a new jeep factory in Detroit and in March, Ford also said that it will build EVs in it’s facility in Michiang, Flat Rock and devout a facility elsewhere in Southwest Michiganb to build selves vehicle.
