A recent news show, that in the competition of OTT platforms Netflix is losing its subscribers in noticeable amounts. Even then Netflix has announced a season 2 of Ginny and Georgia maybe as an attempt to bring the viewers back. Here’s what we know so far.
What is Ginny and Georgia?
Ginny and Georgia is an American comedy and mystery film. It was released on Netflix on 24th February 2021. Considering the huge success the series was then renewed for a second season.
The TV show is about the relationship between a mother and daughter. Georgia (Brianne Howey) a 30-year-old single mother faces many problems such as being a teen mother, multiple relations and her horrid past. Her elder daughter Ginny (Antonia Gentry) is a rather very calculative, serious teenager who stumbles upon her mother’s past secrets.
The series connects with the audience on many levels. Firstly, the family ie. Ginny, Georgia and her son Austin (Ginny’s half-brother) move to a different town when Austin’s father dies. It is quite hard for Ginny to adjust to the new surrounding and people. Luckily she has good neighbours and finds herself best friend Maxine “Max” Baker. Troubles start when she falls for her best friend’s brother Marcus.
On the other hand, Georgia tries to fit in, in the rich town working hard for the mayor simultaneously being in a romantic relationship with him. But things get ugly when her past mistakes and secrets catch up with her. A friendly face from her past might also have her back when she finds herself in trouble but that is something we might see in season 2.
Season 1 ends with Ginny leaving the town and taking her brother with her to know more about her mother’s past. Here’s the trailer for Ginny and Georgia.
What do we know about season 2?
In a statement released by the creators of the show, Debra J. Fisher and Sarah Lampert, the pair said “We are so appreciative of the incredible response and love you all have shown Ginny and Georgia. We’re especially grateful to Brianne and Toni, who set the highest bar every step of the way. We can’t wait to return to Wellsbury for season 2.”
