The story of the movie starts with a talkative sloth Sid who while going towards the south, left behind by his family and the herds of mammals.
Sid decides to move ahead and in his way he meets a Manny, a mammoth who is traveling towards North, Sid starts to follow Manny.
Both are moving ahead and suddenly a group of tigers attacked the human camp and a woman protect her baby jumps into the river and falls over a waterfall. Before she disappears, Sid and Manny save the baby and decide to search the father and give the baby to him.
Out of a group of tigers who attacked the camp, a tiger name Diego comes out to claim the baby and the three of the group together and starts an adventurous journey to the humans.

The story shows Manny, Sid, and Diego who start living in a valley surrounded by big ice walls on all sides. But soon they discover that it is not an ice wall, it is a dam that holds a large amount of water that flood the valley to nearly a mile underwater.
A vulture tells them that a boat is present at the other side of the valley that protects them all, but they have only three days to reach it or die.
Mammy is worried about the fact that he is the last mammoth left but during the journey, he meets Ellie who is a mammoth and thinks that she is possum like her brothers Crash and Eddie.
All move together towards their mission and during the journey, Manny with the help of Diego and Sid decides to move on from his past.
