Bell Bottom

The gripping spy film “Bell Bottom,” directed by Ranjit M Tewari. Furthermore, loosely inspired on the real-life 1984 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 421 by Pakistani terrorists. Follows a seemingly innocuous clerk with more than simply knowledge of former airborne hostage crises. Anshul Malhotra (Akshay Kumar) plays the titular Bell Bottom, who was given the moniker due to his slacks. His mother had died in a hijacking carried out by Doddy years before (Zain Khan Durrani). Malhotra has made it his life’s work to ensure that tragedies like this never happen again.

Malhotra is up against a stronger foe than Doddy, who is also behind a new terrorist strike. Internal politicians working behind the scenes to maintain the fragile peace between India and Pakistan are fighting against him. “Bell Bottom” has a 1970s James Bond vibe about it, from the hazy score to the stylish clothes. A car chase in a sandstorm serves as the climactic clandestine operation. Which is heightened by a sharply edited hand-to-hand battle scenario between Malhotra and the terrorists. The film is a thrilling Indian spin on the spy thriller genre.

‘Firedrake: The Silver Dragon’

The animated adventure “Firedrake: The Silver Dragon,” directed by Tomer Eshed. However, depicts a fabled era in which people and dragons coexisted until humans began hunting them. Dragons are now a thing of the past. A young dragon named Firedrake (voiced by Thomas Brodie-Sangster) notices a factory near their lonely sanctuary one day. In order to save his kind, he sets off with his best friend, a fox named Sorrell (Felicity Jones), to discover “the border of heaven,” the legendary dragons’ resting place.

This amusing film, which is based on Cornelia Funke’s German children’s novel “Dragon Rider,” doesn’t conceal its influences (there’s a wink to the “How to Train Your Dragon” series). During Firedrake’s journey, he meets Nettlebrand, a metallic cannibalistic dragon (Patrick Stewart). He also joins forces with Ben (Freddie Highmore), an orphaned troubled adolescent who poses as a Firerider, a person who can ride dragons.

‘Quam’s Money’

The Nigerian-set action comedy “Quam’s Money,” directed by Kayode Kasum. It is a sequel to the 2018 film “New Money,” and follows Sweet Boy Q, a security guard turned millionaire (Falz). The self-proclaimed “most-confirmed bachelor” in Nigeria. He made his riches in bitcoin and is known as “The Patron Saint of Swag.” Now, the nouveau riche offish Q spends his nights squandering his fortune. He encounters a terrifying shark one evening: Ozzy (Nse Ikpe-Etim). She is the leader of the Borrow Borrow Boys, a gang of con artists who take the flamboyant Q for every penny he has.

The film follows Q across Nigeria in search of the people who stole his money, with an Ennio Morricone-inspired score. Falz delivers an outstanding comedy portrayal, speaking with the self-made millionaire confidence of a fast-talking charlatan. In addition, he gives the buffoonish role true seriousness and sadness. The film shifts into a heist film in the final scenes. However, with criminals wielding firearms attempting to terrify Q and Nigeria’s rich elite into submission. Chinaza Onuzo’s hilarious, wacky script kept me guessing until the very end with its unanticipated twists.

‘The Survivalist’

Jon Keeyes’ film exploits the Covid-19 outbreak as a framework for the fall of civilisation in a post-apocalyptic Western set in the not-too-distant future. It’s been 592 days since the Delta strain, a highly contagious and fatal type of the virus, broke out in Matthew Rogers’ thin script. The US government set up isolation camps to house the uninfected in order to combat the outbreak. A disease outbreak occurs at one of these outposts, Camp Bastion. Aaron (John Malkovich), a lunatic messianic cult leader of marauding land pirates, is the only survivor.

In “The Survivalist,” however, Aaron is not the main character. Ben (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), a former F.B.I. agent who provides shelter to the pursued Sarah, receives this prize (Ruby Modine). Sarah’s immunity to the virus makes her an ideal test subject. Furthermore, Aaron’s gang believes she can stop the pandemic and save them from their doomsday nightmare. Ben battles Aaron’s death squad alone in a rural gunfight. In a thriller that has a battering ram truck, a slew of gunfire, and a gruesome execution, Malkovich gives a terrifying performance.

‘SAS: Rise of the Black Swan’

Grace Lewis (Ruby Rose) is a member of the Black Swans, a military group founded by her father, William (Tom Wilkinson), and brother, Oliver (Owain Yeoman). After a video depicting a massacre they committed to make place for an oil pipeline in Georgia’s Gveli Pass went viral, the trio was charged as war criminals.

Grace wants vengeance when her father is slain by the SAS by kidnapping a train carrying Buckingham, his fiancée, and other passengers. The firefights in this film, directed by Magnus Martens, are shot with clarity, notably the opening bloodbath, while Benji Merrison’s tense score lends impetus. Grace and Buckingham fight in the confined confines of a train tunnel, which allows for well-mounted tactical melees in this violent quest for revenge.
