Facebook on Monday change its corporate logo to create a visual distinction between the brand and its applications like Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. The company said that it would start using the new branding in its marketing material and products, and also update the Facebook for business profile over the upcoming weeks.
In the journey of 15 years, the first time Facebook has changed its logo. The social media giant faces criticism from advocated and lawmakers or its privacy practices. The company worries about the data collection that’s common on the Facebook platform may bleed over into its other businesses.
Antonio Lucio, the chief marketing officer of Facebook said that users should understand or know that they are using products such as Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram, Oculus, Workplace, Portal, and Calibra made by Facebook. It helps clear their vision of the company and its products.
Antonio Lucio also said that Facebook management should be more transparent with the users and also aware of the fact that applications come from their company. He also focuses on the fact that, according to the Pew study, only 29 percent of people of Americans aware of the fact that Instagram and WhatsApp both are owned by Facebook.
Features of new Logo
The new corporate logo of the company contains simple capital letters with a color-changing feature. It does not contain any stylish alphabet or design as associated with the company logo before. It will soon be used in the products and marketing materials of the company.
As we observed that, on Instagram, “Instagram from Facebook” appears on the lower part of the login page screen. The company will change it soon. The Facebook part of it will be made larger and bolder in line with a new design.
The new logo will also be available on the setting page of the Instagram application. A GIF showing different logo colors from blue to green to pink is also shared by the company.
